ABOUT

jly leads a double-life as a satellite systems engineer by day and a pop singer-songwriter and audiobook narrator by night.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, jly got her first taste of performing the way so many Filipino kids do: belting her heart out at family parties to Beyoncé on the Magic Sing karaoke machine. From there, it was local talent shows and YouTube covers, until she had the growing realization that she didn’t just love singing other people’s songs. She had her own stories to tell.

In 2018, she took the leap. She couchsurfed through Nashville and Los Angeles to chase her dreams of becoming a musician. That chapter shaped her into the artist she is today: a singer-songwriter who crafts pop music rooted in lived experience, heritage, and heart.

It was that same love of storytelling that eventually led her to the world of audiobook narration. For jly, the booth is one of the most intimate creative spaces there is. It’s just her voice and the listener where they can build a world together, one chapter at a time. She feels most at home in genres such as romance, erotica, self-help, memoir, YA fiction, and true crime, with a particular passion for narratives that celebrate queerness, gender fluidity, and chosen family. Her intersectional identity as a Filipino, Thai, and Chinese American allows her to bring many different kinds of characters to life, as she can connect with their heritage and upbringing.

These days, jly calls Colorado home, where the slower pace and mountain air suit ignite her creative spirit. When she’s not at her day job working on satellites, or after hours writing songs or narrating audiobooks, you can find her cake decorating, playing tennis, sipping on some boba, strumming the guitar or ukulele, dancing (take your pick: swing, hip-hop, heels, whacking), or being a loving mom to her cat and dog fur babies.
